Why Kyrgyzstan is one of my favorite countries to travel in

Kyrgyzstan has always had a special place in my heart, even before I even traveled there. It might sound odd, but there’s always been something about it that attracted me to it. I’ve always loved mountains and considering the fact that the country consists of 94% mountains, I knew that it would be a country I would enjoy traveling in. But I never knew that I would love it as much as I do. This is why Kyrgyzstan is one of my favorite countries to travel in. 

Everything is so beautiful 

There wasn’t one place in Kyrgyzstan that I didn’t enjoy traveling around in. Even the cities were fascinating to see and worth visiting for a few days. But it’s really for the nature that you should visit Kyrgyzstan. Never before have I seen such spectacular mountains. The only country that could compete with Kyrgyzstan so far is New Zealand. But if you live in Europe like I do and don’t want to travel so far, you must visit Kyrgyzstan. There’s an endless amount of trails to do, mountains to see, valleys, lakes, etc. Even if you stay here for months, you won’t have time to do everything. That’s what I love about Kyrgyzstan though – there’s always something waiting to be discovered.

The people are incredible 

Although it can sometimes be difficult to communicate with the locals because of the language barrier, they’ll still invite you over for food, try to chat to you and literally offer you everything they have. The Kyrgyz people make it so easy for me to love their country because of their hospitality and their kindness. If I was ever lost or needed help, I could always rely on the locals to help me out. More than that, some became my friends. 

It’s really affordable 

Let’s face it, everything is nicer when it’s affordable and you don’t always have to worry about breaking the bank. Kyrgyzstan was a pleasure to travel around in because it’s so incredibly affordable and you can get really far with your money if you spend it wisely. Hiking is oftentimes for free if you have your own camping gear and food can cost 1 USD if you go to local places. I mean… Who doesn’t love that? 

There’s still not many travelers here 

I love the fact that there’s not many travelers who has found their way to Kyrgyzstan. Yet. The hostels are rarely packed, the hiking trails are not overcrowded and there’s still so many places still where you will find yourself completely alone. Which is quite rare these days. But I have a feeling that this will change very soon. When people realize how safe it is, how affordable it is and how extremely beautiful Kyrgyzstan is, there won’t be any way to stop the crowds.
